Please join us on March 5, 2022 for our 6th Annual Event

The 2021 Super Bull Trail Championships will be held on March 6th, 2021.

It's hard to believe that this is all ready the 5th year of trail racing at Wooster Memorial Park!  Each year, The Super Bull Trail Championships creates lasting memories while offering unforgettable memories, excellent competition, and a challenging course.  In addition to that, this event allows the Wooster Running Club to make a substantial donation to The Friends of Wooster Memorial Park.  Those who have run with us in the past know that we treat each and every runner like a member of our family.  Those who have yet to run with us, please read below and join us...we've always got room to expand the local trail running family!

Race proceeds will once again benefit the Friends of Wooster Memorial Park as they keep the park up to date with trail maintenance, clean-up and land development. But we all know the most beneficial way to help out the trails-run them! And we have plenty of options for that - a 12.5k, 25k and 50k and even the 5k!

As the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 Super Bull Trail Championships all sold out, we encourage EARLY sign-ups to ensure your spot.  The first 250 to sign up are in, so don't delay!

We are giving away $1,300 in total prize money in 2021!!

COURSE:

This is a loop style course featuring a 7.75 mile loop with approximately 1000ft. of climb per loop. Click here for the course elevation (courtesy of Danny Preising) The course is mostly made up of single track trails with some very technical treks, but some awesome views! As seen in the pictures above, there are creek crossings, you'll encounter your fair share of steep hills, lots of downhill and probably some mud! That's what trail running is all about! Check out the course map HERE.

50k, 25k, and 12.5k Course Description:

Start: behind pavilion at main parking lot, take the Education Trail (yellow) heded West until the meadow, then go left and run the upper perimeter of the lot until you can take a left on Sassafras (orange). Stay on Sassafras (orange) until you come to Outer Trail (red) and bear left. Stay on Outer Trail (red) all the way until a left onto Strock trail (pink). Go left onto Saddleback (purple) until it splits in 2 directions, stay left and complete that trail in Clockwise direction back to the split. (The entrance and exit of Saddleback will be 2 way traffic, so please be careful and pay attention, use common runner courtesy please). Go left back onto Strock (pink) and it will turn into the Outer Trail (red) which you will take over a creek crossing and then go left UP onto the Kenwood Trail (white). Go Right out of the woods and make a loop around the field following the Kenwood Trail over 2 beautiful new foot bridges, and then continue on the access drive to a right turn on Silver Road.  Take Silver road to the main trailhead where you will encounter the on-course aid station and bathrooms, and then continue on Spangler Trail (Blue).  At the Silver trail, turn right and go downhill to a right turn on the Trillium Trail (Green) and head uphill to complete the Trillium loop in the Counterclockwise direction.  At the conclusion of Trillium Trail (Green) go right onto Spangler Trail (blue) and then bear left  to go uphill on Spangler (Blue).  There will be a short section of 2 way traffic here, so please use trail courtesy.  Continue straight on Spangler (Blue) until you come to the open meadow where you will go left on the old field trail (white).  Take Old Field Trail to a left on the Education Trail (yellow) and continue on Education back to a right on Spangler (Blue) and go back down the 2 way traffic section.  Once you encounter the bridge at the bottom of the hill on Spangler, go right over the bridge and then go right again and run up up and up at the Education Hill. At the top of the hill, go right back onto the Education Trail (yellow) and this will bring you right back to the start/finish line!

5k Course Description:

The 5k will have it's own start on the west side of the open field (green star, #1) and runners will start by running across the open field, across the driveway, and bear left towards the education trail (Yellow). After a right turn onto the southern-most education trail, 5k participants will join the 50k, 25k, 12.5k loop by descending Silver Hill at point labeled #2 on the map. Runners will turn right at the bottom of Silver Hill onto Trillium Trail (Green) and complete the Trillium Trail in the counterclockwise direction. After crossing the bridge to close out the Trillium Trail, runners will turn right onto Spangler Trail (Blue) and head uphill toward the Old Field. After crossing the NEW bridge build over the treacherous ravine and entering the old field, 5k runners ONLY will turn right at the point listed as #3 on the map. Take caution here as 50k, 25k, and 12.5k runners will be turning left, do not follow them. At the top of the hill, turn left onto the old field trail and then bear left again at the end of this section to rejoin the main loop at point #4 on the map. From here you will follow the main loop back to the finish by retracing your steps on Spangler trail (Blue), up the switchbacks on Education Hill, and right turn on the northern portion of Education Trail (Yellow) back to the finish at the pavilion!

COVID-19 Policy:

We remain positive and optimistic that we will see drastic changes in the social climate in the coming months in regards to spread of the virus and how it effects group events in our area.  Our intent is to hold our event as it has always been held in the past assuming it is responsible to do so in March 2021.  Our main priority is to raise funds for Wooster Memorial Park while creating unforgettable in-person racing opportunities for our runners, however we also need to be socially responsible and ensure that we are creating a safe environment for runners, volunteers, spectators, and community members.  With that at the forefront, we reserve the right to adjust start times, aid stations details, packet pickup details, post race party details, and any other group gathering facets of the race to ensure we can host the event on-site while keeping everyone safely distanced.  There will be no surprises and any adjustments to the current plan will be 100% transparent and sent out to all who are registered.  In the end, we also want runners to be able to register with confidence knowing that when they register and pay, they will get a first class experience at Wooster Memorial Park regardless of changes necessary for COVID-19.  WE WILL WORK HARD FOR YOU.
