2023 Raccoon Run Information & Registration

8 a.m. 5k Raccoon Run

8:30 a.m. One-Mile Fun Run

Walkers, joggers, and runners of all ages will take to the streets of Lakeside on Sunday, July 23 for the 43rd Annual 5k Raccoon Run and One-Mile Fun Run. Light refreshments for all racers will be provided at the finish line. Awards will be given immediately following the race on the steps of Hoover Auditorium. 

Registration includes chip timing, chance at age group finisher’s awards for the 5k, as well as a commemorative T-shirt and decal for both 5k & One-Mile Fun Run. 

The Bob Brucken Honorary Award

The Bob Brucken Honorary Award will be given each year to the oldest participant finishing the Lakeside Raccoon Run. The award, named after longtime Lakesider Bob Brucken is in recognition of his leadership in promoting Lakeside’s Annual 5k. Bob has run the race since the inception of the race, earning medals several times. In fact, some years, Bob finished the race pushing a neighbor in a wheelchair! Bob can be seen jogging the Lakeside streets and nature trail all summer, often times with members of his family trailing alongside. His love of running, the Raccoon Run, and Lakeside is contagious. Lakeside Chautauqua is privileged to honor Bob Brucken with this new Raccoon Run tradition during our 150th Anniversary year. 

Admission and  Parking Fees are not included in this registration.  A Complimentary Recreation Event Pass is available from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. on the day of the event for registrants only. This pass does not allow entry into the Grindley Aquatics and Wellness Campus Pool or Entertainment in Hoover Auditorium. 5k Race Course  - Around the perimeter of Lakeside, turns are clearly marked

• Start: Orchestra Hall, corner of Second Street & Walnut Avenue
• Finish: Third Street at Hoover Auditorium

One Mile Fun Run Course - Flat terrain along Second and Third Street

• Start: Lakeside Laundromat, corner of Second Street and Sycamore Avenue
• Finish: Third Street at Hoover Auditorium

Registration Details                                                               

• 5k Registration: $35 includes T-shirt and commemorative decal.
• One-Mile Fun Run: $15 includes T-shirt and commemorative decal.
• Group Registration: $25 for Athletic teams and includes T-shirt and commemorative decal. Please email recreation@lakesideohio.com for more information.
• Please note: T-shirts sizes are not guaranteed for Registrations after July 15, 2023.
• Online registration will close 5 p.m., Saturday, July 22. On the day of the race, you can register between 7 -7:30 a.m. in Hoover Auditorium Lobby, 119 W 3rd St., Lakeside Marblehead, OH 43440

• One-Mile Fun Run: Check in early to skip the line! Pick up your T-shirt and decal on Walnut Plaza from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, July 22.
• Day Of Race: Check in between 7-7:30 a.m. in Hoover Auditorium Lobby, 115 W Third St., Lakeside, OH 43440.

• Women’s Division: age 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & older

• One-Mile Fun Run: Certificate of Participation and Commemorative Decal
• 5k Raccoon Run:
  • Trophy for 1^st Place Overall in the Men’s and Women’s divisions
  • 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Place in each of the Men’s and Women’s age divisions
  • Bob Brucken Honorary Award
