2026 Leprechaun Chase 5k - A Wooster Running Club Event

Event Details:

Each Year The Wooster Running Club puts on an inexpensive and fun 5k prediction run at the local running store to help kick off the Spring Racing Season! As we dust off the cobwebs of a long winter, our hope is to make this event about more than just running a 5k, we want it to be a great afternoon of running club camaraderie!  In the spirit of the season, we will make this a St. Patrick's Day themed race where you will find Leprechauns along the route, all participants are encouraged to wear green or dress up in a St. Patrick's day theme, and of course we will incorporate BEER!  With your paid entry, all participants will get a Special edition St. Patty's Day themed giveaway (to the first 100 participants) and a voucher to use for a complimentary Beer or Soda at our race partner, City News & Brews.  With our Start/Finish line being located within the City of Wooster D.O.R.A. that means you can run inside and grab your drink and come back out to cheer on your friends and be a part of the awards ceremony and then head back inside to take advantage of the amazing food offerings!

Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Wooster Youth Running Club that will be NEW this year!  We are going to provide additional opportunities for those youth runners who participate in our Summer Running Camp to compete together throughout the summer and fall.  Race Jerseys, Race Fees, and more will be needed and your donations will help offset the costs!

**The World's Largest Game of LCR will take place at 10:30am at the Start/Finish Line!**

Pricing:

A donation of $20.00 + Processing Fees is required for pre-registration.  You can register on race day for $25 donation.  This includes your bib with timing chip, entry into the prizes, a Special edition St. Patty's Day themed giveaway (to the first 100 participants), Three (3) crisp George Washington's for the World's Largest LCR Game, and a FREE beer or soda from City News & Brews.

About the World's Largest LCR Game:

If you've never played LCR (Left, Center, Right), no problem, we will teach you on the fly!  The concept is pretty simple, you'll start with 3 Crisp George Washingtons (Dollar Bills) and we will start rolling the LCR Dice.  If you roll an L, you move one dollar to the person on your left.  If you roll an R, you move one dollar to the person on your right.  If you roll a C, you have to put a dollar in the pot in the middle.  If you are lucky enough to roll a DOT, you keep your dollar!  This goes on and on until all but 1 dollar is left and that person who has that dollar wins the pot of gold!  If we have 100 players, you could win $300 before the race even starts!  Do you have the luck of the Irish?

About a Prediction Run:

A prediction run is easy and the best part is that anybody can win!  During registration, you tell us how long you think it is going to take you to run the 3.1 mile course.  On race day, you run the course without the aid of your GPS, watch, ipod, etc. and in the end, the runners closest to their predicted times will take home the prizes!

Prizes:

The top three runners closest to their predicted times will win awesome prizes from Second Sole Wooster!  We will also have some bonus categories including best costume, most spirited (during the run, not at the bar!), and a special on-course challenge as well!

About the Course:

That's the beauty of a prediction run, you don't know the course that way you cannot go out and practice and have an unfair advantage.  All we can tell you is that it is certified with BPS (Brian Polen Satellites) and will NOT be closed.  We will do our best to help runners cross traffic as safely as possible, but traffic will remain open for the race.  You are to obey all rules of the road even if this means stopping for traffic in the middle of your race.  All of this adds to the excitement and challenge of the prediction run!

Back by popular demand...we will have our "hydration" station out on the course!  :)
