The Wooster Golden Gloves 15u team is hosting their first annual 5k event on May 22, 2021 to raise funds to cover expenses for the upcoming 2021 season.  This very talented team will be playing nearly every weekend from May 29 - August 1 and will be traveling out of state on many occasions playing against some of the best teams in the region.  With COVID making it impossible to host many of the fun/social fundraisers that have been successful in the past, and with outdoor activities deemed safe if hosted in a responsible manner, The Gloves have partnered with MidOhio Race Management to host a 5k to help offset costs!

Read below for more details, but you WILL want to be there.  This fast and flat course will be appropriate for runners/walkers of all abilities.  Our team members (15 year olds) will be managing all of the volunteer positions and doing all the work for this event, so give them your support and come have some fun!  We also have some surprises in store for you, but we'll share those later!

Who:  Anyone who wants to run/walk a 5k and/or support the Golden Gloves 15u travel baseball team

When:  Saturday, May 22, 2021.  Staggered start for all runners starting at 8:30am.  Start times will be emailed to all participants on race week.

Where:  Parking will be in the parking lot of Wooster High School located at 515 Oldman Rd.  The official start line will be in the open green space named McConnell Field located at 625 Oldman Rd, Wooster, OH.

The Course:  The route will consist of bike trail along Oldman Rd, Burbank Rd, and the beautiful and scenic Kinney Walking Path.  Course Map coming Soon!

Aid:  There will be one fluid station along the route with unopened bottles of water.  Fluid stations, as well as all volunteer positions, will be staffed and managed by the Golden Gloves 15u players!

Cost:  Each participant will make a $25 donation with all proceeds after expenses benefiting The Golden Gloves 15u baseball team.  With your donation you will receive a Premium Golden Gloves t-shirt, electronic chip timed 5k, post race refreshments, and a chance at overall and age group awards.

Social Distancing:  In response to restrictions on group events due to COVID, we will have the following precautions in place 

    -Touchless packet pickup on race morning.  Race items will be in clearly labeled zip lock bags on a table near the start, you will serve yourself.

    -Face Coverings will be required at the start line until you cross the timing mats.  You will not need face coverings while racing.

    -Staggered starts will be utilized to space out the runners on the trail.  Start times will be emailed out to participants on race week.  

    -Touchless recovery bags will be available after the finish line including water and snacks.  Take and go.

    -Live results posting and brief awards ceremony.  Please spread out once you cross the finish line.

    -Limited but ample aid stations.  Full and unopened bottles of water will be available at the on-course aid station as well as at the finish line.

    -Limited field size to stay in compliance with government mandates.
