The Great Adventure Race
Benefitting Viola Startzman Clinic and The YMCA of Wooster
When: June 16th, 2018 Start time @ 8 a.m.
General Description:
Back for its 7th year, we are proud to present the Great Adventure Race (Formerly Wooster Urban Adventure)!
Begin your summer with a great adventure! The baton has been passed from the Wooster Urban Adventure Challenge to the Great Adventure Race, and we are planning a fun and challenging event for you this year. As in the past, you and your team will find yourselves gallivanting through Wayne County by foot and bike, completing challenges that will test both your strategic brainpower and your athletic stamina. You never know what the next challenge will bring, so be prepared for wet and dry activities, heights, depths, boats, trains, busses…who knows! We can guarantee it won't be boring and you will have fun!
Your participation will support two great community organizations: the Viola Startzman Clinic and The YMCA of Wooster.
Come for the race, stay for the party: We will celebrate completing the race with an epic after-party hosted at The Dirty Olive (1931 Portage Road, Wooster). Come relax with a few drinks and great food and listen to the Chardon Polka Band, a band that has made a name for itself adding a colorful twist to the traditional genre of polka. All racers will receive free drink and food tickets. Families and friends can purchase tickets at the gate. Awards will be presented at the party, and you can also bid on great auction items and further support our charity partners.
Pricing:
Registration (registration deadline June 12)
2 Person Team -- $100
3 Person Team -- $125
4 Person Team -- $150
Course Details:
It's a mystery and you'll have to show up to find out! The challenges will take you to various locations throughout Wayne County, and will be a test of both brains and brawn, so come equally prepared to use both! Some knowledge of Wayne County history and landmarks is helpful, but not required. We do encourage you to bring a smart phone in a waterproof case to help solve some of the clues and take you to the next challenge location.
Location: Race check in will be held at Wooster High School in the main student parking lot between the high school and Alice Noble Ice Arena. Check in will run from 6:30am - 7:45am. Bike check will be available in the transition area, and the this area will be staffed all day for extra security for your bike and belongings.
Race Timing: Vertical Runner Race Management utilizes MyLaps technology to ensure the most accurate results for The Great Adventure Race. You will cross timing mats at the start and finish; along with key transitions during the race. This means you will get separate splits for integral segments throughout the adventure.
Awards: All finishers will receive a race medal. Team awards will be given to the top team in the following divisions: Age Groups, Corporate Sponsored Teams, Top Three Best Overall Times, and…Two Mystery Awards.
Parking: Plenty of parking will be available at both the Wooster High School student parking lot and the Alice Nobel Ice Arena.
Swag: This year's swag features an awesome finisher medal to commemorate how awesome you are and premium customized driwick t-shirt. To ensure you get a shirt in your preferred size, register before May 25.
